Where: Richard's Lunchbox Restaurant and North L Street, Downtown

The Tulare Downtown Association is sponsoring a bike decorating contest.  Judging takes place during the line up in the parking lot of Richard’s Lunchbox, 240 North L Street, Tulare at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 26.  Bicycle entrants must be in place at the intersection and lined up for pre-judging. Instructions for the parade of bikes will be given.  All bicycles and riders will remain on the marked path designated by painted arrows for the parade.  Any bicycle entrant may pre-register for the parade but a separate release is required for the bike ride following. Riders can contact the TDA office at (559) 685-2350 for more details.
There will be three age groups eligible for prizes:  children ages 5-7 (must be accompanied by an adult), 8-11, and 12-14.  Anyone coming late will not be judged or be eligible for prizes, but may ride in the parade.  Winners will receive their prizes following judging and will be publicly announced at the TDA gazebo after the bike rides (approximately 8 PM). Rules for the bicycle parade contest are:

  1.  For prizes, judges will look most at the entries using creativity, originality, and use of decorative materials.
  2. Costumes may be worn but must not interfere with the rider’s vision (all must be appropriate for a family atmosphere).
  3. Decorations must be attached firmly to the bicycle and completed before arrival to the parade.
  4. Decorations must not interfere with the safe operation of the bicycle.
  5. Bikes can be two or three wheels (training wheels are permitted).  No motorized bikes/cars are permitted for this contest.
  6. Bikes must be in safe operating condition.
  7. Bike riders must wear bicycle helmets at all times.  Other safety equipment is optional.  All equipment is to be provided from home.
  8. Entrants must ride their bicycle or walk alongside the bike if they are not wearing helmets.
